Tool Packs By Topics

The following tools packs have been curated by JASS to support your movement building strategy in specific areas. These methodologies have been tried and tested by JASS activists, organisers and movement builders, and are offered to help strengthen your organising and mobilising.

  • Spanish Language Pack

Esta es una primer oferta de herramientas en idioma espanol. En las proximas semanas nuevas herramientas se agregaran a esta seccion. Finalmente, toda la plataforma We Rise estara en espanol. This an initial offering of tools translated into Spanish. In the coming weeks and months we will expand this section with others. Ultimately the entirety of the We Rise platform will exist in Spanish.
  • Openings, Safe Space and Closings

This is a set of materials used by JASS facilitators to create safe and productive processes, to get participants engaged and to creatively summarize earlier discussions. Lots of great openers and closings too.
  • HMB/Integral Protection: Risk, Security and Self-Care

This pack includes a range of materials for well-being and safety. They range from simple self care and centering activities to in depth risk and protection tools. For the latter we recommend you start by reading Dealing with Threats, Risks and Safety (Introduction).
  • Understanding Our Struggles, Histories & Contexts

All movement-building work benefits from analysis of the contexts – personal and societal - in which we find ourselves, and the histories from which we draw strength and inherent challenges. These activities include a range of tools that helps us explore, excavate and analyze where we are and what we know.
  • Feminism, Identity & Intersectionality

These methodologies help build an understanding of identity, power and politics through a feminist and intersectional lens, a perspective inclusive of gender, race, ethnicity, class, sexuality, etc Different activities or combinations will serve different moments of learning, analysis and strategy development for movement building.
  • Feminist Leadership / Leadership Development

JASS facilitators bring a feminist approach to all of our popular education work, and all of the tools within WeRise reflect that orientation. The following selection provides a core set of tools that offer support and guidance for people of all genders thinking about leadership and leadership development from a feminist standpoint.
  • Power and Transforming Power

JASS puts understanding and building power at the center of our movement building work. These activities, coming from a feminist standpoint, emphasize power analysis that stretches across areas of our lives from the personal to the public. And they provide a framework that supports approaches and strategies for developing power within ourselves, with others and for the transformational change we seek.
  • Strategy for Organizing and Communication

Developing strategy over time requires clarity about context, capacity, power dynamics, opportunity and risk. The methodologies here offer different entry points and in combination can help an organization deepen its thinking as it looks at its particular “moment” and options for action.
  • Conflict / Conflict Transformation and Negotiation

JASS leaders have years of experiences navigating and negotiating agreements and conflicts among allies and organizations. The methodologies below provide a basic set of tools to help organizations approach conflict in a healthy and constructive way including bringing an understanding of how gender and power inequities need to be addressed.
